Martin Hood is responsible for the strategy and new business development of both the reseller and agency groups at AEIS. These groups serve a range of distribution partners in the performance improvement, promotional, financial services, advertising and loyalty sectors. Prior to his current position, Hood launched AEIS' consumer promotions group where he guided the overall strategic direction and planning for the organization's entry into the consumer promotion market. "Mike and I thought we did the good deed of the day," says Paul Shoemaker -- and why wouldn't he? After all, Shoemaker and Mike McGee, co-workers at a Sprint outlet at the Cherry Creek Shopping Center, were heading on break when they heard a cry for help from an aging security guard as a shoplifting suspect blazed past them -- and instead of ignoring this plea, they chased the guy down, caught him, and held him until mall security and police arrived. Their reward for this heroic action? They were fired. From an April 27th Westword Blog Site post(http://blogs.westword.com/latestword/2010/04/sprint_employees_fired_for_cap.php) I actually came across the above story through NY Times bestselling author Larry Winget, who posted it in Facebook. Appalled by what I can only describe as being the myopic view of Sprint in terms of applying a policy that while having merits under the proper circumstances (protect store employees and customers), its broad application to include the situation for which these gentlemen played a necessary and conscientious role borders on ridiculous. What are your thoughts, and what would you say to these gentlemen if you had the chance? Well you have the chance, because joining me this evening are the two individuals who deserve praise instead of termination, Mike McGee and Paul Shoemaker to share their story and feelings on what is undoubtedly an unforgettable and probably bewildering experience.
